The charity festival Rock Diabetes is in its third year this year and it is going from strength to strength. We are currently working on the line-up which will be released soon, but again we have secured some top bands as well as the best local talent on offer.
Planning for this year’s festival is well under way, and so is the fundraising. Last weekend the organisers all took part in the first of many events designed to raise awareness of type 1 diabetes, the up-coming festival and to raise some money for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)
On Sunday 4th of May, a sunny bank holiday weekend, the organisers and other volunteers got tied up for a three legged pub crawl around all of the pubs in Westbury with their collection buckets, they were also joined by The Honey Monster to add a bit of fun to the proceedings. The organisers would like to thank everyone who donated as they raised over £350 for the charity.
We have many fundraising ideas in planning before the main festival in October at the Civic Centre in Trowbridge, including the first of our many warm up gigs at Charlie’s Bar in Westbury on Sunday 25th May. Charlie’s bar in the Market Place, Westbury will be hosting a day of live music starting after lunch through till the evening, we have several bands lined up, including Devizes band Burnthru, we also have a music quiz, where you can win two tickets to the festival. There will be collection buckets for donations available.
Looking forward, some of the other activities planned will include, bungee jumping from helicopters, a black carpet award night, a day of live music in Trowbridge Park on the bandstand, and many more warm-up gigs around the area.
